New
Disaggregated Census 2000 Resource on
APIAHF Website
Searching for Census 2000 data on specific AAPI
ethnic group in any county in the United States?
APIAHF has made available an easy-to-use,
on-line system for Census 2000 Social and Economic Status data at
its
website, and data is available for ALL 50 states and ALL the
counties within the state, disaggregated by ethnic group.
Accessible by clicking on the Census 2000 map in
the APIAHF home page, the system provides data on population
growth (1990 to 2000), language use and proficiency, educational
attainment, income and poverty, immigration, and household
characteristics for 17 Asian subpopulations and six Native
Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander populations, as well as
aggregated data for the Asian and Native Hawaiian and Other
Pacific Islander categories.
Made possible through a cooperative agreement
with Office of Minority Health, Department of Health and Human
Services, the new system enables users to download the data they
want by specifying the geographic area; it then looks up the data
for the selected area and enables users to look at several tables
just by clicking a tab. The user can also email the data to
herself/himself and other colleagues.
